Dracula’s Retreat takes place near Dracula’s Castle in Transylvania, in the heart of the Carpathian Mountains. We will be within walking distance from the castle itself.

Besides Dracula’s Castle as a must see, the mountains aren’t manicured, fenced and off limits. When we go hiking….we just go. We leave behind all the worries, frustrations, and the modern world, and walk into the wild, along paths and old villages, with the spirit of the ancient Carpathian Mountains.

GO WILD, RECLAIM YOUR NATURE AND NURTURE INNER PEACE

This retreat is open to everyone. However, if you have trouble running or hiking a few miles, it would be better to skip this one.

Otherwise, you may prefer to sit out on the difficult hiking sessions and participate in the ones more accessible to you.

We will be out in nature most of the day. Alexandra will be taking you through some wonderful places in and around Bran village, for natural movement fitness training, hiking and tourism – including Dracula’s Castle.

Alexandra will emphasize basic yet challenging, mindful movements, particularly ground movement with amazing benefits for overall mobility and stability, among other physical activities.

You will enjoy:

  • Hiking in the Carpathian Mountains
  • Visiting Dracula’s Castle and the village
  • Natural Movements fitness coaching (logs, rocks and trees included!)
  • Trail running
  • Meditation
  • Organic, home grown food
  • Barbecues
  • And more

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

Q. Can anyone participate in this retreat?
A. This retreat is open to everyone who doesn’t suffer from health conditions or injuries that can be aggravated by exercise and long periods of walking.

Q. How fit should I be?
A. You don’t need to be super fit. If you can run and hike a few miles you are good to go. We explain more in this YouTube video:

Q. Is this a boot camp retreat?
A. Training will be as difficult as you make it (unless we are hiking, then the mountains decide). The difference between a natural movement fitness retreat and a boot camp retreat is the education – you will be coached on posture, body alignment, and taken the time to work in the technical aspects of movement.

Q. What if I have an injury or health condition?
A. As long as your doctor is ok for you to exercise you should be fine. If you are unsure book a (free) call with Alexandra and talk through it.

Q. Is there the risk of wild animal attacks?
In Romania, the brown bear is very common. There is always a risk. However if you follow simple guidelines and safety you will be fine. For example if you go camping (we won’t) make sure you don’t cook or leave food near your tent. Avoid area with bear warning signs, of course. Stay on trails used by everyone. Ask if there were bear sightings lately.

Bear in mind that there are thousands of tourists and hikers in the mountains, I went camping and hiking myself, and may never even see bears. I only saw them about rubbish binds looking for food. So while, there is the danger (we are in the mountains!) people don’t even see any bears.

Q. What kind of food will we be eating?
A. Traditional Romanian food, which means home grown, organic vegetables (cooked, and fresh), lots of fresh vegetable salads, local meat and cheese, soups and broths, barbecues. The food is locally grown. Menus will be decided then and there depending on what we, as a group, would like to eat.

Q. What temperatures should I expect?
A. Between 30 and 40 degrees Celsius

Q. What should I bring for the trip?
A. We are putting together all this information, if you message us we can send you this information and further updates.
